GREETING
Dear friends, we have come together in the presence of God
to witness the marriage of ____ and ____,
to surround them with our prayers, and to share in their joy.
The scriptures teach us
that the bond and covenant of marriage is a gift of God,
a holy mystery in which man and woman become one flesh,
an image of the union of Christ and the church.
As this woman and this man give themselves to each other today,
We remember that at Cana in Galilee
our Savior Jesus Christ made the wedding feast
a sign of God’s reign of love.
Let us enter into this celebration
confident that through the Holy Spirit,
Christ is present with us now.
We pray that this couple may fulfill God’s purpose
for the whole of their lives.
(Guests please be seated)

Look mercifully upon this man and this woman
who come to you seeking your blessing,

that with true fidelity and steadfast love
they may honor and keep the promises and vows they make;
through Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with you

SCRIPTURE READING
____reads I Corinthians 13:1-8 (or another)
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
